Petition: Tell Macy’s to Stop Mislabeling Fur

February 20th, 2010

Many garments labeled as faux fur are actually racoon dog fur.

The Humane Society of the United States filed a lawsuit against several major department stores and fashion designers to stop false advertising and mislabeling of fur garments. Lord & Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and designer Andrew Marc all signed settlement agreements to reform their advertising and labeling practices. Macy’s has not.

While it would be ideal for these stores to stop supporting the cruel fur industry, at the very least they need truth in labeling their faux fur garments so consumers can know that they aren’t supporting an inhumane industry.

Tell Macy’s to join their competitors in strengthening their labeling and advertising standards.
